About Cambodia

Room to Read Project- Khmer Language Book:

Room to Read sponsors the writing of local language children's books in an effort to provide affordable and culturally relevant books for children in their native languages.  All of these books are written by local authors, illustrated by local artists and published in country.  Not only does this provide quality reading material for young children, but it also increases local employment and investment in the future of the children's book industry.

Here is an example of a Room to Read sponsored book for Cambodia:

The Youngest Crab

"The Youngest Crab is the story of a young, naughty crab that takes a lot of risks to explore the big world around him. Through a series of adventures the crab learns to value the experience of his parents and to trust in the solidarity of friendship as he braves many challenges with his other young crab friends."

Cambodian Author: Mr. Ven Son
Illustrator: Mr. Sam Sarath
